But when it comes to relationship, something just isn’t working.
I was no different.

I call myself a Marriage Flunky turned Relationship Expert.
That was me. High achiever stinking it up in the relationship realm. I thought I could figure it out since I’d figured out so many things.
I was knowledgeable. Attachment styles, love languages, Love and Respect, Life Stage Development. I had a Master’s degree in Education. Pahlease.
But, he wasn’t trying, so I tried even harder. Research, study, and effort had always worked before.
I went to counseling alone hoping someone would help me figure out how to manage his symptoms, his moods, his patterns.
The two of us stayed up til all hours “talking it out”. Both of us tried hard to get the other person to hear and understand us. We were always trying so hard to iron things out!
Sure, there were times when it felt pretty good. We made the most of family time. We tried to create good memories for the kids. In all honesty…
That marriage was walking heartache.
The relationship started taking up so much energy, even the things I dependably knew were solid — like my work ethic, my achievement, raising successful kids — began to suffer. So, I did the logical thing.
I dragged my husband to Couples Counseling.
The counseling we did made everything worse.
We argued even more. He didn’t practice any of his skills. I didn’t think he was even paying attention. I felt like I was doing it alone. Things would seem okay and then something would set one of us off and we were back to a very familiar dance.
It was exhausting.
I was convinced Marriage Counseling was a bunch of bunk.
It definitely did not work for us.
It was absolutely confounding. So frustrating.
None of our Couples Counselors knew how to help. And then…
Everything Changed.
Lucky for you, I didn’t stop there!
I developed an entire approach to therapy.
I developed the Effective Infidelity Treatment in Five Stages (TM).
I like to say “My pain is your gain!”
